a year ago today - happy birthday niamh!

Today is Niamh's first birthday. I hate to be so cliche, but I can't believe how fast the year has gone by. It just doesn't seem that long ago -- actually, it seems like I'm just starting to recover!

She is an absolute star and is precious to us in every way.

So, Happy First Birthday Niamh!!! Now every year on this day, I can say..... xx years ago today, I was in the hospital.... and tell the story. Just like my mom reminded me every year!


To celebrate, I'll rush home from work tonight to bake a cake, so she can have her first birthday cake and open presents. I'd like to say this will be her first real taste of sugar, but Dom gave her chocolate icing at 5 months old, in a selfish attempt to position himself as 'favorite parent' - she wasn't even eating solids yet! Sigh... So she'll be having her second real taste of sweets tonight. Expect video coverage of the event.

On Saturday, we'll really celebrate by having a pool party for her with some of her friends. Here's hoping for good weather...
