Furry friends need our help too

In the wake of the devastating earthquake in Sichuan, we continue to be impressed with the stories of the various rescue efforts. Today, I was impressed again as I came across this picture on the Animals Asia website.

It appears that rescue workers are also rescuing our furry friends who were displaced by the earthquake. I think this is great, and its something that I haven't heard much about so far, so its good to see the depth and scope of the efforts.

But I can't help feeling a bit cynical. I mean, it does look like a first class rescue for little fido there, and for some reason, I just don't see this being the way all of them are transported. This picture says 'kodak moment' to me. That dog looks awfully pampered and clean for a rescue. But you never know.

At least our furry friends are being taken care of in this difficult time. Owners who lost their homes are also able to temporarily hand over their pets to be cared for while they find shelter.
