olympic money honey

In China related Olympic news, I've just found out via twitter, that Beijing will release special Olympic money to commemorate the games. These 10 RMB notes will be available starting tomorrow.

Sounds like a great idea, in theory, but the flaw in the plan is that they will only print 6 million of these notes, which is not even enough for each resident in Beijing to have one! They maintain that these notes will only be worth the 10 kuai they are valued at, but I'm willing to bet these babies become collectors' items pretty fast.

One side of the bill will feature Beijing's Olympic stadium, "The Bird's Nest" and the other side will show an ancient Greek statue of a discus thrower on the back.

Don't expect to see these in regular circulation! For more information, please see the original article on Danwei by clicking here.
