Niamh does England

While in England for Christmas, Niamh brought the cuteness in a big way. She was totally ecstatic about having both sets of grandparents there, not to mention two adoring aunts, two adoring uncles and of course, 4 cats and one dog. To be honest, the cats were a HUGE hit.

Niamh was so excited about her adoring entourage that she was on her brightest and cutest behavior. Flanked with no less than 10 adoring family members, its hard not to bask in the spotlight. She put on a real show, doing dances with everyone, bouncing for joy, opening and wearing her Christmas presents over her pj's, seeing all the horses, pushing around the baby doll in the stroller and feeding it with a fake bottle (through the eye, but hey, its close), and her favorite part may have been playing with Aunt Katherine's two adorable and sweet cats. They actually seemed to be on here level, and we caught her several times playing with the cat flap (cat door?) with them in what looked like a mutual game...

The funniest thing is how she behaved with the baby doll. Besides trying to feed it through the eye, she carried around everywhere, pushing in the stroller, taking the stroller up and down the steps to get it in the next room. Holding the baby and giving it hugs. Just precious behavior. She liked it so much that Grandma (nai nai) and I went out and got her one of her own, which sadly, we had to leave behind in England since BA only allows you one checked bag per person on international flights!!! But that's another blog post...

Most importantly, this trip really solidified the fact that Niamh, despite being only 17 months, does understand that these people she sees every so often are in fact her family. She absolutely loves being around them and it is so good for her in many ways. One obvious benefit was the dramatic improvement of her English over the two weeks. She now can say Mimi, Pops, Kat'rin for Katherine, Stebe for Steve, Richard, Pops, dog, cat, apple, water and quit your jibber jabber. That last one is because Dom bought a Mr T toy for his brother for Christmas. In the end, it was among the top toys according to Niamh...

What's for sale? Cuteness!
