the easter bunny drops by beijing

Easter weekend was somewhat of a let down, mostly because once again, mommy didn't have it together. If our family was the kind that had a Dad that was hyper-interested in establishing holiday traditions, we might be ok. However, as it is, my husband thinks they are too "commercial" and simply lacks the 'planning ahead' gene. Fine - he has his areas of strength, the downside of this means it is up to me, and the combination of work and moving means I haven't had much time for planning. I'm lucky if I can find an outfit for work each day!

The good news is the Easter Bunny DID find us in our new house. And courtesy of a friend who was in the US the week before, we actually had some authentic Easter candy!

The bad news is Mommy didn't do a great job at establishing an Easter basket or any sort of decorations or eggs (note the basket is lined with a paper towel, classy). I did however take Niamh to Church and an Easter egg hunt in the afternoon, and she had a pretty great day. All in all, its probably only me who realizes it wasn't what it could have been.

The highlight of the day? When Niamh opened the the plastic Easter eggs which had been stuffed with organic cookies for the litlle ones, and she spat the organic cookie on the ground. Her face was priceless. This was moments before I shocked the other mothers by allowing my 20 month old to indulge in chocolate! Good thing they didn't know she had it at breakfast...
